Virginia Whitney Browning

Virginia Whitney Browning, 92, passed away Friday, January 23, 2015. Virginia passed away in Gilbert, AZ where she lived with her granddaughter and family for the last 8 years of her life.

Virginia was born February 19, 1922 in Ormond Beach, FL to Harold Able and Nellie B. Whitney.

Virginia had the distinction of being a descendant of the Roosevelt and Whitney family.

Virginia was a graduate of Mainland High School, Daytona Beach, FL and Riverside Hospital School of Nursing where she achieved her RN degree in 1943.

Virginia practiced medicine with her husband, Dr. John D. Browning in his private practice for many years in Fort Pierce, FL.

Virginia was an advocate of children with special needs and, along with her husband, was a founding member of the Browning Training Center in Fort Pierce, FL.

She also was dedicated to her and her husband's careers in public service, animal welfare and nature conservancy.

Virginia is predeceased by her beloved husband of 59 years, Dr. John D. Browning and her son John W. Browning.

She is survived by her daughter Barbara B. Morris of Ormond Beach, FL; a granddaughter Michele, her husband James W. Renahan III of Gilbert, AZ; a grandson Chad D. Kirby of Ormond Beach, FL and her two great grandchildren, Mathew and Nicolas.
