Ervin C. Diede was born March 13, 1929, to Albert and Rose (Haeffner) Diede in Miller, SD. He attended school in Miller, SD and Highmore, SD. He served in the armed forces in Korea from 1951 to 1953. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to South Dakota. He became a journeyman lineman, which remained his proud chosen profession until his retirement in 1994.

On June 26, 1955, he married Loretta P. (Rosemore), daughter of Clarence M. and Martha R. (Stonefield) Rosemore, at the United Methodist church in Miller, SD. They were the parents of Craig and Renetta. They moved multiple times for his profession, settling in Hastings, MN for the majority of his life. They resided in Mesa, AZ for a few years, but returned to Hastings when he retired in 1994.

He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, mostly based from Local 160 in Minneapolis, MN and retired out of Local 769 in Phoenix, AZ. He was also a member of the American Legion, VFW, and attended the United Methodist Church in Hastings, MN. His main interests were repairing and remodeling, and taking care of his family.

Ervin died January 8, 2015 at the Augustana Care Center in Hastings, MN.

Survivors include his wife, Loretta Diede of Hastings, MN; son, Craig (Debbie) Diede of Glendale, AZ; daughter, Renetta Diede of Hastings, MN; grandchildren: Lyndsey Diede and Kyle Diede of Phoenix, AZ, Daniel Diede of Minneapolis, MN; sisters: Phyllis Bell of Wichita, KS, Inez (Sally) Chalk of Ft Collins, CO, Velda (Browni) Pitcher of Metairie, LA; sisters-in-law, Hazel Martell and Leila (Marlin) Jerpseth; brother-in-law, Jim Barrett; many nieces and nephews along with countless family and friends whom were blessed to know him.

He was preceded by his parents, Albert Diede and Rose Diede Thiele; brother, Elmer Diede; and sister, Charlotte Barrett; and his very special uncle and aunt, Emil and Lena (Diede) Mehrer with whom he lived while in Highmore.
