James Donald Goebel, 79, of Groves, Texas, passed away Monday, January 5, 2015 at Gulf Health Care in Port Arthur, Texas.

James was born November 2, 1935 in Port Arthur, Texas to Gus Henry Goebel and Emma Esbell Zingerman Goebel.

He was a lifelong area resident and retired from Gulf Oil/Chevron USA as a senior design engineer after 38 years of service. He was an active member of Faith Tabernacle Church, where he served as past Sunday School Superintendent for 32 years. He also served as quarter master with the U.S. Navy Reserve.

James was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Goebel and sister, Grace Evelyn Wueller.

Survivors include his daughter, Susan Goebel; two sons, Timothy Goebel and wife Rose and David Goebel and wife Codia; sister, Beatrice Mabel Ward; brother, Glenn Howard Goebel and wife Ethel; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
