Wendell C. (Ben) McKinney, 82, Fairfield, died Thursday, Oct. 18, 1984 at his home of cancer. He was born Dec. 29, 1901 in Fairfield, to Lehman J. and Daisey Rebecca Carson McKinney. He married Leah Hacking July 1, 1932 in the Salt Lake LDS temple. She passed away March 12, 1981.
A lifelong resident of Fairfield, he worked in the mines at Ophir and Mercur before starting his own ranching business. He had a fond love for animals and the great outdoors and kept active in this up to the time of his death. He enjoyed telling stories of his fmy adventures. He loved children and all loved him. He was a High Priest in the LDS Church.
He is survived by one daughter and three sons: Janet M. Palmer, Lehi; Blane H., American Fork; Orson W., Cedar Fort; and Ben L., of Fairfield; 20 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and one sister, Merle M. Strong, American Fork.
Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 22, at 1 p.m. in the Cedar Valley Ward Chapel. Burial was in the Cedar Fort Cemetery. (Provo Herald, 21 October 1984; Pleasant Grove Review, 24 October 1984;
