HUFFMAN, Clark Edward, age 53, a resident of Centerburg, was killed on the 1st of August, 1981, in a mail truck accident on U.S. 36, south of Mount Vernon. It was reported by the Mount Vernon News on Monday, 3 August, that two Knox County men were killed in a one-vehicle traffic accident at 3:55 a.m. Saturday. Clark E. Huffman, 53, Centerburg was driving a 1976 Chevrolet truck eastbound on U.S. 36 when he apparently fell asleep at the wheel near the intersection of Bishop Road. The truck reportedly went off the right side of the road, over an embankment, crossed a stream, rolled over and struck a power pole, coming to rest on its top. The passenger in the truck, David M. Harter, 43, of Columbus Rd., was also killed in the accident. Clark was born on the 10th of March, 1928, near Centerburg, Knox County, Ohio, the son of Homer J. and Florence [Carpenter] Huffman. He was a truck driver and had been a resident of Centerburg all his life. Surviving were his parents, one sister, two nieces and one nephew. Clark is buried in the Centerburg Cemetery, Knox County, Ohio.
