ABBATICOLA, VINCENT A. 'VINNY', CFD, CAPT. RETIRED, 79, of Cranston, died Friday, April 30, 2010 at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital, North Providence. Husband of Lorraine T. (Martin) Abbaticola for 58 years.

Born in Cranston, he was a son of the late Vincenzo and Anna (Zoglio) Abbaticola.

Mr. Abbaticola was a firefighter for the Cranston Fire Department retiring as a Captain, after forty years of service. He was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School and the Firefighter Training Academy, Newport. Mr. Abbaticola was also a plasterer by trade. Vinny was a member of the Manton and Cranston Senior Centers. He enjoyed singing, dancing, woodworking and carpentry.

Besides his wife he is survived by his loving children, Linda Dodge and her husband Thomas of Cranston, Roseann Santopietro and her husband Steven of Warwick, Marie Resendes and her husband Robert of Warwick, and Vincent E. Abbaticola and his wife Kim of Cranston. Vincent was the cherished grandfather of Jacquelin and Thomas Dodge, Holly and Keri Resendes, Loriann and Andrea Santopietro, Vincent J. and Emily Abbaticola. He was the great-grandfather of Josalyn Currier. He was the brother of Josephine DeRotto of Providence, and Mary Abbaticola of North Kingstown.
