At age 16, Henry was sent to Canada by the Church of England Waifs and Strays Society. He landed at Quebec City on May 2, 1931 aboard the S.S. Laurentic. Upon arrival, he was taken with his travel party to Gibb's Home in Sherbrooke, Quebec. From there, he was sent out on a farm placement with John A. Copping at Lennoxville, Quebec.
Sadly, less than two years after his arrival in Canada, Henry died in an accident. A note on his juvenile inspection report reads: "Accidentally killed - Jan 7/33 - Fell off a wind mill in Sand Hill & fractured his head & neck - Buried in Prospect St Cemetery Sherbrooke PQ"
