John Actis, 56, of 14 Brook St., an auto painter for East Side Auto Body for two years until illness forced his retirement in 1986, died Tuesday at St. Joseph Hospital, North Providence.

He was the husband of Josephine (Esposito) Actis.

Born in Providence, a son of the late Giuseppe and Mary (Giocobbi) Actis, he moved to North Providence in 1957.

Mr. Actis previously worked for Nick's Auto Body for 12 years. He had served in the Air Force.

Besides his wife he leaves two daughters, Karen Mitchell of New London, Conn., and Joanne Medeiros of Johnston; two sons, John Actis Jr. of Burrillville and Paul Actis of North Providence; a brother, Joseph Actis of Providence; two sisters, Angela Ferrario of Providence, Lucille Vucci of North Providence, and two grandchildren.

The funeral will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. from the Mariani Funeral Home, 200 Hawkins St., Providence, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 at St. Thomas Church, Fruit Hill Avenue, Providence. Burial will be in St. Anne's Cemetery, Cranston.
