COLUMBUS - Grace Louise Messer, 88, died at 7:46 am, Monday, April 10, 2006 at Medicalodge, Columbus.
She was born June 30, 1917, in Cherokee County, to Ralph and Hazel (Bland) Williams. She had lived in Columbus since 1958, moving there from Galena.
She worked as a seamstress at Elder's Garment Factory in Carl Junction until 1966.
She was a member of First Baptist Church, Crestline. She was a former member of Rebecca Lodge, Crestline.
She married Thomas Franklin Messer, Sr., on Sept. 2, 1936, in Joplin, Mo. He preceded her in death March 26, 1996.
Survivors include two sons, Larry Raymond Messer of Stilwell, and Thomas F. Messer, Jr. of Columbus; two daughters, Marilyn June Frobish of rural Columbus, and Rosalie Ann Schocke of Tuscon, Ariz.; one brother, Claude E. Williams of Arizona; two sisters, Edith Hallam of Grove, Okla., and Thelma Headden of Gary, Ind.; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Ray Williams and two sisters, Marie Gibson and Dorothy Messer.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Friday, at Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena. Rev. Dan Haggard and Rev. Paul Duncan will officiate.
Burial will be in Messer Cemetery, north of Galena.
The family will receive friends form 7 to 8 p.m. today, at the funeral home.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Derfelt Funeral Home of Galena.
