PONTOTOC Venita Ann Carter Denton, 57, died Sunday, Dec. 28, 1997, at Pontotoc Extended Care. She was a retired factory worker. She attended Bethlehem Free Will Baptist Church.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Baldwin Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Larry Smith and the Rev. Lenore Strickland officiating. Burial will be in the Baldwin Memorial Gardens.

Survivors include her husband, William Wray Denton of Pontotoc; one daughter, Sheila Dianne Phillips Speegle of Pontotoc; one step-son, William David Denton of Hanceville, Ala.; three stepdaughters, Patricia Ann Swords, Rebecca Lynn Walker and Pamelia Kaye Lantrip, all of Ecru; two sisters, Sarah Dickerson of New Albany and Bobbie Nell Roye of Pontotoc; two grandchildren, Elizabeth Ann Tumey and Zachary Wayne Tumey; five step grandchildren, Tisha Hughes, Casey Wray Denton, Chris Hill, Deonna Denton and Jessie Denton.

She was preceded in death by her father, Marvin D. Carter; her mother, Ester Frances “Etoyle” Carter; one sister, Emmie Dee Boger; two brothers, Marshall L. Carter and Eliam B. Carter.

Pallbearers will be Rex White, Brad White, Phil Roye, Larry Poole, Donald Miller and Ronald Carter.

Honorary pallbearers will be Gene Turner, Ron Patton, Neal Roy, Don Mallard, Doyle Duffey and David White.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. today and from 9 until 10 a.m. Tuesday.
