THOMAS B. MULDOON, 80; ALWAYS HAD PASSION FOR SEA
Thomas Bradshaw Muldoon's love for the sea began in Beverly when he was 6. He and his older brother, Arthur, would jump into a boat and row about 4 miles to Baker's or Misery islands before their mother called them in for a meal.

He learned to sail from General George S. Patton, a family friend, said Mr. Muldoon's nephew, Bruce A. Hughes of Beverly. Patton lived in Hamilton and had a schooner named When and If.

Mr. Muldoon, a retired Navy Reserve captain and a veteran of World War II and the Korean War, died Monday at Beverly Hospital of complications of a stroke. He was 80.

Mr. Muldoon never lost his passion for the sea, Hughes said. His only concession to age was to move from sail to power boats after retiring 15 years ago.
