FAMILY/RESEARCH NOTES:
1. CENSUS: 1850, 1860 Caldwell Co., TX; 1870, 1880 San Saba Co., TX.

2. MARRIAGE: George W. Barnett & Rachel Watson, 30 JUN 1857 in Caldwell Co., TX. (Book C-D of Caldwell County Marriages).

3. FAMILY: 5 children-May, Joseph W., Annie, & Lucy (also called Lettie). Ephraim died young not found on census.

4. MILITARY-MUSTER ROLL: G. W. Barnett, Pvt, Co. K., Caldwell County, Allen's Regt., 25th Brigade, Texas Infantry; age-36 born in Monroe Co., Ala.

5. TAX ASSESSMENTS: Caldwell Co. 1849 - 1861, 1864(this assessment was given by J.A. McAllister, his brother-inlaw since George was serving in the Civil War at this time), 1865.
San Saba Co. 1866 - 1872, 1880 - 1884.
NOTE: According to the tax assessments for George W. Barnett, he had over 700 acres of land in San Saba Co. at the time of his death. Some of this was land his father, Joseph Barnett had owned.

6. HISTORICAL MARKER: Harkeyville, San Saba County, Texas ---- Now a ghost town, Harkeyville is north of U.S. Highway 190 two miles west of San Saba in central San Saba County. On Nov. 26, 1873, George W. Barnett (1823-1885) gave land for the first school; the schoolhouse was used also for church services and public meetings.
