George A. Barnett, 70, died at 6:30 PM Tuesday, Feb. 8, 1972, in Lafayette Home Hospital, where he had been a patient since Feb. 5, following two years of failing health. Born and reared in Princeton, he had resided in Frankfort and Colburn before coming to Lafayette from Springfield, IL, in 1956.
In 1942, he was married to Ada Cox, who died Nov. 29, 1971.
Mr. Barnett was employed in the physical plant of Purdue University for ten years before retiring in 1969.
Surviving are a daughter, Virginia (Mrs. Barney) McIntyre of Lafayette; two sons, Gilbert Barnett of Lafayette and James Barnett of Springfield; a sister, Mrs. Ida Starkey of Gentryville; twelve grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
