Dr. Brunner began his career as a general practitioner in Krumsville. He made house calls in a horse and buggy and later a Model T Ford. He made house calls until January 1967 when he was 83 years old.
In later years Dr. Brunner speciailized in the field of dermatology.
He served as a staff member of Allentown Hospital and the Community Hospital, Reading.
He was a graduate in the Class of 1902 of Kutztown State College. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Medical School, and served his internship at St. Luke's Hospital, Fountain Hill.
He served as a physician on the draft board in Berks County in World Wars I and II, receiving citations for his efforts from the late President John Kennedy and former President Johnson.
In 1967 he was honored at Alumni Day ceremonies at Kutztown State College.
Dr. Brunner also was a hunter, collector, musician and gardener. When asked how he found time for his hobbies, he said, "If you have something that needs to be done, take it to a busy man, the rest don't have any time."
A native of Krumsville, he was a son of the late Dr. John P.F. and Rosabella (Gerhart) Brunner.
He was a member of Friedens Lutheran Church, Stony Run. Services will be at the convenience of the family at the Brunner residence. There will be no calling hours.
The William S. Fritz Funeral Home, Kutztown, is in charge of arrangements.
