Martha Ann PELT was daughter of Asa and Winnie Langford PELT. The LANGFORD & PELT family lines were in Georgia in the early 1800's, and Asa and Winnie were married in 1815 in Jones County, Georgia. Asa and Winnie and family are believed to have moved to Clarke County, Alabama around 1820 or so.

Martha Ann married William M. PRICE on November 3, 1842 in Meridian (Lauderdale County), Mississippi. They were the parents of 7 children: 4 boys and 3 girls. After they left Lauderdale County, Mississippi, they lived in Smith, Rankin, and Lawrence Counties, Mississippi before the entire family made the move after the Civil War to Catahoula Parish.

Martha Ann and husband, William M., share one headstone(probably as they live life - as one). Besides her personal information, the following is found on her side:

"Remeber Friends
As You Pass By, As
You Are Now So
Once Was I, So As I
Am Now, You Soon
Must Be. So Prepare
Yourself and
Follow Me."
