Ronnie Wayne Vaughn, 67, of San Saba went to his heavenly home on Friday, August 22, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. He was born to Sterling and Annie Vaughn on March 9, 1947 in San Saba, Texas, where he lived his entire life. He married his childhood sweetheart, Rachel Vaughn, on July 3, 1964 and they spent 50 happy years together. These years were filled with unforgettable memories and will be treasured by each member of his family. Together they had two sons, Woodie Lyn Vaughn and Darrel Gene Vaughn.

Ronnie worked 31 years with the Texas Department of Transportation, starting out on the maintenance crew and working his way up to supervisor for the last 12 years of his career. After he retired from Tx DOT he opened Texas 16 BBQ, which had always been a dream of his. During his lifetime Ronnie enjoyed building and creating items such as BBQ pits, riding his gator, going to the lake, hunting and fishing, and spending time with his family. Ronnie was a member of the San Saba First Baptist Church and the San Saba Masonic Lodge # 612.

He is survived by his wife, Rachel Vaughn; son, Darrel; four grandkids, Brooke (his angel), Justin, Ryan, and Emilee (his princess); sisters, Peggy Turner and Betty Myers; brothers, Jack Vaughn, Billy Vaughn and wife Angie; and many other friends and relatives.

He was preceded in death by his son, Woodie Lyn Vaughn; his parents, Sterling and Annie Vaughn; and sister, Geraldine Parker.

Funeral services for Ronnie will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, August 24, 2014 at First Baptist Church, San Saba with Bro. Sam Crosby officiating, interment will follow at Wallace Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. prior to service. In lieu of flowers memorials can be to the Wallace Creek Cemetery Association, 1614 CR 117, San Saba, Texas 76877.
