COCHRANE, Hortense Elizabeth — Wife of the late Wilfred Cochrane, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2012, at 103 years, in her second home, Windsor Elms Village in Falmouth. She was born August 16, 1908, in Mosherville, to the late James and Mary (Clark) Northup. She lived most of her life in Stanley, moving to Wind­sor Elms in 2005, at the age of 97.

Sur­vived by daughters, Isobel (Owen) Lowe, Stanley; Linda (Dennis) MacK­innon, Liverpool; son, Donald (Lin) Cochrane, Hubley; daughter-in-law, Marlene Cochrane, Kennetcook; grandchildren, Wanda (Bruce) Spen­cer, Lakelands; Michael (Barb) Lowe, Lower Sackville; Brad (Nancy) MacK­innon, E. Port Medway; Dan (Marca) MacKinnon, Windsor; Ginelle (Stuart) Starritt, Timberlea; Dr. Karen Co­chrane, Scott Cochrane, Jeff Co­chrane, all of Halifax; Kathy (Steve) Copp, Timberlea; Shelli (Casey) Sing­er, Kennetcook; grandson-in-law, Elwood Munroe, Scotch Village; 17 great-grandchildren; two great great­grandchildren; many nieces and neph­ews; her second family, the staff of Windsor Elms Village, especially the staff of 2nd Hart and Meadowview 4.

Besides her husband, she was prede­ceased by her son, Norman 'Buddie' Cochrane; granddaughter, Sheree Munroe; brothers, Roy, Earl, Victor, Vernon, Dudley and sisters, Emily MacDougall, Pauline McIninch and Marion Wellwood.

Hortense was a member of Mosherville United Church and an active member of her community. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, who made friends with everyone she met. The family wishes to thank the staff of Windsor Elms Village for their loving care to our mother.

Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Fam­ily Funeral Homes & Cremation Ser­vice, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317), where the family will receive visitors today, July 30 from 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 31 in the funeral home chapel, Michelle Armstrong of­ficiating. A reception will be held in the funeral home’s Elmcroft Recep­tion Centre. Private family interment to follow in St. Stephen’s Anglican Cemetery, Stanley.
