William was the son of John and Louisa Poston Allen. He married Maggie Rogers, the daughter of Elijah and Mariah Swites Rogers, on March 19, 1894 in Winchester, Kentucky. He earned his living by working as a house painter and decorator, skills he had learned by working alongside his father. Mr. Allen passed away from the effects of myocardial insufficiency, complicated by a history of nephritis and hypertension.
