He died at 2 AM in Bay Shore Hospital in Pasadena after a long illness. He was a native of Montalba; taught in Montalba for several years before going to work for Tennessee Gas Company in Pasadena. He was employed by them when he became ill. He was a member of the United Methodist Church and of Wallis Masonic Lodge of Robstown.
Survivors include is wife, Mrs. Cecil Johnson Austin; son, Dr. M.B. Austin, Jr. of Texas City; a daughter, Mrs. P.D. Maryan Gertson; his mother, Mrs. M.L. Austin, Sr. of Montalba; a brother, M.L. Austin Jr, of Palestine; a sister, Mrs. T.J. Auld of Montalba and six grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be employees of the Tennessee Gas Company.
