Steve was born August 26, 1957, in Joliet, IL, the son of Bob and Elaine (Lloyd) Russell. In his free time, Steve enjoyed building dual-seated experimental aircraft, and once built a completely custom motorcycle. He also enjoyed performance drag-racing boats.
Survivors include three sons, Tyler (Amber) Russell of Rockford, Tanner Russell of Oregon, Chad Campbell of San Diego, CA; one daughter, Candice Russell Earnhart of San Diego, CA; two brothers, Jim Russell of Dixon, Edward Russell of Minooka; one sister, Michelle Russell of Joliet; two uncles, Ken (Katie) Russell, Jerry Russell, all of Florida; one aunt, Doty Kness of Dixon; two grandchildren; and eight cousins, Tricia, Lisa, Kim, Kelly, Korie, Kasie, Sandy, and Steve.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one son, Alex Russell.
Visitation will be from 10 – 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 2, 2014, at Preston-Schilling Funeral Home, Dixon, followed by an 11:00 a.m., funeral service at the funeral home, with the Rev. Mike Jones, pastor of First United Methodist Church, Dixon, officiating.
Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Dixon.
A memorial has been established.
