William was a veterinarian and had a well established winery and apple & peach orchards. He made cider and vinegar to sell. He also grew sugar cane and had a sorghum mill and made sorghum for others. A mule walked around a pond to drive a wheel which made power for the mill. He was well respected, but a poor manager. He died in debt, owing back taxes. He would loan money to others and didn't have enough for himself.
