Nellie Louise (Wallace) Thompson age 80 of Richland County passed away on Sunday, June 29, 2014.

She was born in Bloom Township, Richland County, WI on February 28, 1934 as the fifth of seven children to the late John Thomas and Hazel Elizabeth (Woodard) Wallace. Nellie graduated from Richland Center High School in 1951.

She married the late Bruce Thompson in 1952 and they had five children.

Following their divorce, Nellie earned her teaching degree from the U-W Platteville in 1972.

After retiring from over 20 years at Allen Bradley, she worked as a K-12 substitute teacher.

Nellie was an ambitious, patriotic, generous, joyful woman who loved the Lord. She taught Sunday and Bible School at Woodstock Methodist Church, served as a volunteer at the Tomah VA Hospital for over 10 years and was an active fifth generation member of the Women's Relief Corps, founded in 1888 to assist veterans of the Civil War.

Nellie loved life, the outdoors and her family.

She is survived by five children, Krista (Mike) Searls of Brodhead, WI, Ken (Joan Gunther) Thompson of Fennimore,WI, Kenda (the late John) Pagel of Fennimore,WI, Karla (Al) Vignieri of Richland Center, WI and Klaude (Kim) Thompson of Portage, WI, many grandchildren and great grandchildren, 2 siblings, Jerry (Jo Ann) Wallace of Rockton, IL, Larry Wallace of Richland Center, WI, 2 sisters-in-law, Betty Wallace of Gratiot, WI, Betty Wallace of Beloit, WI, a paternal aunt, Edith Wallace of Viroqua, WI, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son-in-law, John Pagel, 2 brothers, Jack and Ken Wallace, 2 sisters, Audrey Marshall and Eileen Weeden.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at the Stafford Funeral Home in Richland Center.

Marlin Good will officiate with burial in the Woodstock Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Thursday at the Stafford Funeral Home from 12:00 Noon until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Women's Relief Corp.
