Amos E. Landon Dead.
A letter received by O. Burt Tuesday morning form F. B. Landon, imparted the sad intelligence that his father, Amos E. Landon, passed away on Thursday last, the 7th, at his home in Pasadena, Calif., after an illness of several days during which period he had been unconscious most of the time.
The deceased was well advanced in years, being 77 years old at the time of his death. He came to Kansas in the early days and was one of the pioneer settlers in this vicinity. He was the postmaster at Vienna when that was the only hamlet in this part of the country, and when the town of Onaga was started he moved here, and for several years was actively engaged in business here. He was one of the founders of the Congregational church in this city, and during his residence here was one of the most active members of that organization. He was well and favorably known all over this part of the state, and has many friends and admirers in this locality who will be pained to hear of his demise.
His wife and daughter are also ill, but the letter received Tuesday states that they are improving. The sympathy of a host of friend in this city, goes out to the family in their bereavement. The funeral was held at Pasadena last Friday.
