When they had to go on the road, they would leave their children in the care of her mother in Ulverston. Her mother's house was also where Margaret gave birth to her children. By the early Aughts the family had moved their operations from Ulverston to Glasgow, where Arthur now owned the Metropole Theatre. Together they had five children, four boys and one girl, Gordon, Arthur, Jr., Beatrice, Sydney, and Everett. Her second-born child would grow up to become the famous comedian Stan Laurel.
