Known in French as Rodolphe III "Le Pieux" de Bourgogne; also called "Le Fainéant" (The Lazy). He was the last king of Burgundy, born about 970, and son of Conrad III of Burgundy and Mathilde of France. His sister Gisela of Burgundy was the mother of Emperor Henry II. He married 1) Ageltrude and 2) Ermengard, but had no children. Upon his death in 1032, Holy Roman Emperor Conrad II claimed Burgundy and made it part of the Empire.
