Michael was the son of Maria Bauer Melinn. He was abused by his step-father Blake Allen Melinn and his step-grandparents David and Hanalora (Baillargeon) Melinn when in their care in the final year of his life. Blake and his mother and step-father bribed him into staying with them by offering a car and phone in exchange for his change of residence and his silence with regard to the abuse he had suffered at the hand of his step-father. While living with David and Hanalora, he was introduced to marijuana, cocaine, alcohol, and assault weapons... and was given free access to all of these... all of which contributed to his death just 2 weeks after his 18th birthday.
