Retha Mozell Long, 88, of Goldthwaite, Texas passed away on Friday, November 19, 2010 in the Hamilton General Hospital in Hamilton, Texas.
She was born on May 29, 1922 in Crews, Texas to Clyde Tippett and Fannie Ella Casey Tippett. She was a beauty operator and a homemaker. She had moved from Comanche to Goldthwaite in 2002. Retha was a member or the Goldthwaite First Baptist Church. She was also involved in the Adult Six Sunday School Class of the Goldthwaite Baptist Church.
Mrs. Long was united in marriage to Edward Wardell Long on November 15, 1941 in San Angelo, Texas.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Becky Long; three granddaughters and their spouses, Tassie and Tim Spradley of Goldthwaite, Mindy and Craig Hopper of Priddy, and Jenny Carnes of Brownwood; six grandchildren, Ashely and Bailey Spradley, Kendel, Allison, and Mitchel Hopper, and Mackenzie Carnes; one brother, Bernice Tippett of Odessa; brother-in-law, Alvis Waldrop of Winters; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Fannie Tippett; her husband, Edward Wardell Long; 5 sisters, Lola Brooker, Marjorie Brooker, Janie Aly, Jo Wilson and Nita Steadham; 1 brother, Avery Tippett; and a grandson-in-law, B.J Carnes.
Funeral Services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at the Goldthwaite Baptist Church with Brother Doug Holtzclaw officiating. Graveside Services were held at 3:00 p.m. at Lakeview Cemetery in Winters, Texas. Stacy-Wilkins Funeral Home of Goldthwaite, Texas is in charge of arrangements.
