Ridgeland, SC - Hugh Cuthbert Horry, 65, passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2009 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Savannah, GA. He was born in Charleston, SC on August 12, 1943 to the late Evelyn Morrison Horry and Elias Horry. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy and a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church. He was formerly employed by IBM as a Customer Engineer; Intel and Ratheon Corp. as a Computer Specialist; owner of Exit 21 for nine years with his wife of 36 years, Bonnie Bryan Griffin. He assisted in the development of BellingerBluff and Ridgeland Cemetery Annex and was the owner of Siesta Properties, Inc. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, family geneology, writing poetry and songs and was working on a family book at the time of his death.
He is survived by his son, Legare Horry of Bellinger Hill, SC; three brothers, John D (Denise) Horry of Ridgeland, SC; Malcolm (Lynn) Horry of Bellinger Bluff, SC; Joel (Gaye) Horry of Ridgeland, SC; three sisters, Mary Elise (Don) Gabbard of Knowles Island, SC; Laurel (Kevin) Yates of Ridgeland, SC; Carlotta (Wade) Kalinowsky of Clio, SC and one grandson, Andrew Horry of Bellinger Hill, SC.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 pm, Thursday, March 26, 2009 at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Ridgeland, SC with burial in The Ridgeland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 2718 Bees Creek Road, Ridgeland, SC 29936.
