WEST COLUMBIA: Funeral services for Dr. James Louis Graham, Jr., 67, will be held 11am Saturday, June 17, 2006, in Our Saviour Lutheran Church, officiated by Reverend Gary Loadholdt. Interment will follow in Woodridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8pm this (FRIDAY) evening in Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. Memorials may be made to the W. Culp and Addie Mae Cook Endowment Fund Baptist Foundation of S.C., Our Saviour Lutheran Church, Cayce-West Columbia Lions Club, Graham Loadholdt Scholarship at Newberry College or a charity of one's choice.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jim Graham, Eric Toole, Bob Graham, Conley Jumper, Jr., Ley Pickens, Robert W. Seawright, Jr., Allen Powell, Marcus Blackstone, MD., and Nathan Wagher. Honorary pallbearers are the Lutheran Church Men, Golfing Buddies and Cayce-West Columbia Lions Club.

Dr. Graham died Wednesday, June 14, 2006. Born in Columbia, SC, he was a son of the late James Louis Graham, Sr. and Lottie Evelyn Loadholdt Graham. Dr. Graham spent his childhood in Wagner, SC and was a graduate of Newberry College and MUSC in Charleston. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Vietnam Conflict.

Dr. Graham started his general practice in Johnston, S. C. and served his ophthalmology residency in Charleston. Shortly after his residency he moved to West Columbia and opened his practice, Midlands Eye Clinic, the same day that Lexington Medical Center opened [1971]. He was a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Medical Association; S.C. Society of Ophthalmology; Past Board of Trustees of Newberry College; Newberry College Indian Club; Cayce-West Columbia Lions Club and the Country Club of Lexington.

Dr. Graham was a member of Our Saviour Lutheran Church where he was a Sunday School teacher, choir member and handbell choir member. Dr. Graham was an avid golfer.

Surviving are his wife, Sandy Graham of West Columbia; daughter, Evelyn Graham Pickens and her husband Ley of Perry, GA; sons, James Louis "Jim" Graham, III and his wife Tammy of West Columbia and Robert William "Bob" Graham of Mt. Pleasant; sisters, Joanne G. Jumper, Ed.D and her husband Conley Jumper, Sr. of Gray Court and Jenny Lyn Seawright and her husband Bobby of Johnston; grandchildren, Alexsandra Pickens, Hunter Pickens, James Louis "Drew" Graham, IV and Dianna Grace Graham.
