The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at McKee-Stone Funeral Services Chapel. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery. The family will receive friends today from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

MARTINSVILLE MORNING POST, Martinsville, Va., Fri., June 4, 1937, p. 1, col. 4 [edited]. G. T. Compton, 12, son of Mr. and Mrs. Monroe Compton of the Morgan's Ford community, six miles southeast of Ridgeway, was instantly killed when struck by lightning. He was in company with a younger brother, Eugene, and a sister (Evelyn - added by Pamela Compton Hutchens), en route to their home when passing under a large oak tree, lightning stuck the tree, killing G. T. instantly. Eugene was rendered unconscious temporarily. The little girl was unhurt. The tragedy occurred Tuesday.
