Junior L. Aughenbaugh, 91, passed away on Thursday, March 20, 2014, at York Hospital.


He was the husband of the late F. Marie (Madden) Aughenbaugh, to whom he was married 59 years.


The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 24, 2014, at the Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., 87 S. Main St., Mount Wolf.


The burial will be in Mount Rose Cemetery in York.


A viewing will be Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home with a memorial service by the Susquehanna V.F.W. Post 2493 at 7 p.m., along with Masonic services at 7:45 p.m. by Zeredatha Lodge #451, Free and Accepted Masons.


There will also be a viewing from 9 to 10 Monday prior to the funeral service.


Full military honors will be performed by Susquehanna V.F.W. Post 2493 and the York County Veterans Honor Guard at 9:45 a.m. and at the cemetery.


Mr. Aughenbaugh was born December 5, 1922, in Mount Wolf.


He was the son of the late Leroy and Flora (Kraft) Aughenbaugh.


He worked for Conrail for 41 1/2 years before retiring in 1983.


He also was the co-owner, with his wife, of the Mount Wolf Theater from 1955 until 1983.


He graduated from Manchester High School in 1940 and also attended Thompson Business School in York.


He was a veteran of WW II, and a member of the US Army Air Corps, receiving the Bronze Star Medal for Meritorious Service.


He was the Past Commander of Susquehanna Post 2493 Veterans of Foreign Wars and currently serves as the Chaplain.


Mr. Aughenbaugh received the York County Veterans Meritorious Service Award for the year 1995.


He was an active member and one of the organizers of the York County Veterans Honor Guard.


He was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church in Mount Wolf, having served several terms on the Church Council.


He was a member of Zeredatha Lodge #451 Free and Accepted Masons, where he was an Honorary Past Master and served 28 years as the Lodge Chaplain.


He was also a member of Harrisburg Consistory 32nd Degree Mason, White Rose Scottish Rite Club of York County, American Legion Pleasureville Post 799, Hawks Gunning Club, Susquehanna Lions Club, Eagle Fire Company, Mount Wolf, and the Wago Club.


Mr. Aughenbaugh is survived by two sons, four daughters, 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one brother, of Florida; and his partner.


He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Laura Ann Kehler.
