This memorial is for William M. Taylor, who disappeared after 1912 and has been missing since that time. Very little information is known about the man or what happened to him. It is hoped that someone will see this memorial and contact the creator or someone of the family.

It is known that William was born in Iowa but his exact bd. in not known. Speculation is he was born in 1859 or 1863?

It is known that William married Telitha Elizabeth Long on 12 Dec 1893 in Crockett Co., TX. Records prove that William was in Crockett Co. TX from 1893 to 1899, but not on the census with his family in 1900. He is found on the Tax Roll in 1902 and on the 1910 Tom Green Co., TX Census living with his family in San Angelo, TX, doing odd jobs. It is also believed that he may have ran Taylor's 2nd Hand Store, when an Advert was found in the San Angelo Press on 23 Dec 1903.

It is known that they had eight children: Clyde Earnest b. 1892 Crockett Co., TX, Myrt T. b. 1894, Emerald, Crockett Co., TX, Muriel C. b. 1897, Crockett Co., TX, Lee L. b. 1899, Crockett Co., TX, Mary Ruth b. 1904, Runnels Co. TX, Robert Hallie b. 1907, Ballinger, Runnels Co., TX, Jessie Pearl b. 1909, San Angelo, Tom Green Co., TX, & Florence Victoria b. 1912 San Angelo, Tom Green Co., TX. On the 1920 Census for Sweetwater, Nolan Co. TX, his wife is a listed as a widow with four children.

Family history is told that William may have had a run-in with the law and went to prison leaving his wife 'Litha' alone with the children. When William got out they resumed their marriage, living in Runnels Co., Tom Green Co. & Nolan Co., TX. but no proof has been found for this to be the case. It was told by one of his sons that William was thought to have worked for the railroads, maybe traveling extensively. It is known that William was a laborer of odd jobs. It was also thought that William left Telitha for another woman and had two families. No history of him or his whereabouts has been found. Whatever happened to William was something that his family never discussed or was not known. It has been thought that William died in the 1920's but no information has been found.

William M. Taylor has been assumed to be a missing person since 1912. His wife remained estranged, widowed or unmarried until her death in 1956 in Sweetwater, TX.
