Shirley Edward (Lee) Meyer went home to be with the Lord on June 25, 2010. Known to his friends as Lee, he was born in Denver, Iowa, to parents Reinhardt Wilhem Meyer and Hedwig (Krueger) Meyer on April 4,1920. After completing a year of school at Wartburg College, Lee enlisted in the Army Air Corp on September 12, 1941. While serving his country in Meridian Mississipi, he met and married his wife, Mary Frances (Stacy) Meyer, who was stationed there in the Women's Army Corp. The two celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on June 7, 2010. Upon receiving their honorable discharges the couple moved to Redwood City, California where Lee first worked for GreyHound Bus lines in San Francisco and then later worked for Del Monte Corporation for 33 years as an Office and Personnel Manager in San Jose, Yuba City, San Leandro, Oakland and finally in Sacramento.
Lee was preceded in death by brother, Orlo Meyer and sister, Bernadette Thelan. Loving husband of Fran Meyer, Lee is also survived by his sons Edward Paul Meyer of Garden Valley, California and Barry William Meyer and his wife, Cherie Meyer of Santa Rosa, California, Grandson Kornell Meyer and his wife Missy Meyer, Granddaughter Gillian Meyer, as well as Great Granddaughters Lailah Meyer and Kaia Meyer.
Lee loved to travel, especially to Hawaii and he loved big band music and all sports, especially baseball.
