BELMONT – Preston N. Malone, 85, died Saturday, March 1, 2014, at his residence. He was born Jan. 27, 1929, in Dennis to C.E. and Lucy Malone. He was a member of Second Street Church of Christ and was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean conflict. He was employed at Blue Bell for 25 years and retired from Schnadig after 15 years.
Services will be 1 p.m. today, March 3, at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Belmont with John Williams, David Conley and Ron Deaton officiating. Burial will be in Lindsey Cemetery. Deaton Funeral Home of Belmont is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Rada Malone of Belmont; two daughters, Donna Hester (Robert) of Belmont and Denise Parrish (Keith) of Madison, Ala.; three grandchildren, Beverly Hester (Daniel Mann) of Belmont, Andrew Parrish (Megan) of Conway, Ark. and Leslie Parrish of Madison, Ala.; two sisters, Virgie Waddle and Rachel Bruton; one brother, Sam Malone; two sisters-in-law, Jean Malone and Polly Malone; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Clara Searcy, Geraldine Sartain, Lorene Hanie and Deck Posey; and four brothers, Virgil, Elree, Reece and Lumis Malone.
Pallbearers will be Mike Hanie, Tim Posey, Stan Malone, Mike Montgomery, Max Ray Hutcheson, Steve Smith, Randy Johnson and Matthew Hastings.
Honorary pallbearers will be Wallace Williams, Dennis Collins and Jerry Dees.
Visitation will continue until service time today.
