GRAND COTEAU A memorial service celebrating the life of Marie Anne Theresa Guilbeau Bandy will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 6, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Grand Coteau. Mrs. Bandy died at 4:55 p.m. Friday, March 22, 2013, at Vitas Innovative Hospice Care in The Woodlands, Texas. She was 79. Inurnment will follow at a later date. Born March 19, 1934, in Sunset, Marie Anne lived in South Louisiana most of her life. She returned to this area in 2011 after having lived in Jefferson, Texas, for nearly 15 years. She had been on an extended visit with her daughter and son in The Woodlands at the time of her death. She is survived by four children, Steven Bandy of Rayne, Patrick Bandy of The Woodlands, Susan Horaist of The Woodlands, and Kevin Bandy and wife Sylvia of Murrieta, Calif. one brother, Carl Guilbeau and wife Linda of Anna, Texas six grandchildren, Christopher Bandy and wife Allison of Alexandria, Michael Bandy and wife Amy of Redell, Angela Gaudin and husband Nick of Rayne, Leslie Richard and husband Ryan of Branch and Shawn and Korbin Bandy of Murrietta and 10 great grandchildren, Avery, Riley and Emery Bandy of Alexandria Micah, Gabriel and Aryn Bandy of Redell Alayna Jagneaux and Jaxson Gaudin of Rayne and Cullen and Case Richard of Branch, and one on the way. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Fred H. Bandy her mother, Marie Aline Sibille Guilbeau her father and stepmother, Benjamin and Evangeline Leline Sibille Guilbeau and a sister, Carolyn G. Hoag. Marie Anne was an avid reader and enjoyed working crossword puzzles. She had worked in the newspaper industry at The Crowley Daily Signal and The Opelousas Daily World and had served as composition supervisor for The Acadiana Catholic for a time. She also managed an apartment complex in New Iberia just prior to moving to Northeast Texas. During their years in Jefferson, Marie Anne and Fred were active in civic and social activities, including membership in the Mardi Gras Krewe of Hebe. She always enjoyed cooking for family and friends but especially looked forward to spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. The family will welcome guests from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. Friday, April 5, at Sibille Funeral Home of Grand Coteau. Visitation will continue from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Saturday.
