William L. Armstrong, age 56, of Springfield, passed away Monday, December 6, 2010 at NorthCrest Medical Center. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at 10am in the chapel of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield with Brother Dan Burke and Brother Michael Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 7, 2010 from 4-8pm and on Wednesday morning until the hour of service. Mr. Armstrong was born August 24, 1954 in New York City to the late Myron and Sue Duff Armstrong, Jr. He was a veteran, serving in the US Navy and later worked in the food service industry. In addition to his parents Mr. Armstrong is preceded in death by his grandfather, Reeves Duff and his grandmother, Eunice Covington Taylor. He is survived by his daughter, Angel Armstrong of Lyles, TN; brother, Jim (Denise) Armstrong of Springfield; sister, Myra Sue (Jim) Newberry of Springfield; and three grandchildren.
