Ethel Frances Eames, 85, died at the Horton Community Hospital on May 13, 1982. She was born at Whiting, the daughter of Frank and Christina Phillippi Woodward on September 5, 1896. She and Charles Eames were married on Feb. 28, 1918, at Holton. He preceded her in death on Dec. 13, 1958. Mr. and Mrs. Eames had moved to Horton in 1957. For the past seven years, Mrs. Eames had been a resident of the Tri County Manor in Horton. She was a member of the Horton United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two sons, four daughters, 19 grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Willard Francis Eames.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, May 16, at 2:30 p.m. at the Chaney Chapel, with burial in the Spring Hill Cemetery at Whiting. Rev. Paul Wiand officiated. Pallbearers were grandsons: Dennis Schumaker, Stephen Finger, Richard Finger, Ronald Finger, David Finger and Kevin Eames. Memorials to the Tri County Manor may be left at the Maple-Chaney Mortuary.
