An early marriage to her childhood sweetheart, Ernest Layton McDaniel, and motherhood kept her on the go. They lived in 6 different states over the next 20 years, but retirement brought her back to the community she loved.
She was a lifelong member of Mt. Ararat Baptist Church in Downsville and was preceded in death by her parents, Ruben Earl and Ruby (Henry) Wilhite of Downsville; her sister, Helen Wilhite Butler of Downsville; and her husband. They had enjoyed 56 years of marriage.
Survivors include her three children; her son and wife of Hendersonville, Tennessee; 2 daughters and one son-in-law, all of Downsville, Louisiana; five grandchildren; living in Brandon, Florida, in Chicago, Illinois, in Hendersonville, Tennessee, and Downsville, Louisiana; a special nephew, of Downsville and many other relatives and friends.
