Hereford, Feb. 23 (Special) - E. W. Cawthon, 76 years old, died at his home here at noon today after several weeks illness. Funeral services will be conducted at the Hereford Church of Christ Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock, with Bob Wear, minister, officiating.

Born in Denton County on May 27, 1881, he was married to Miss Myrtle King on Oct. 28, 1902. They moved to Hereford from Childress in 1925 and had made their home here since that time. He had been engaged in the real estate business.

Surviving are Mrs. Cawthon; four daughters, Mrs. D. W. [Gladys] Leach of Childress, Mrs. F. W. [Opal] Jones* of Littlefield, Mrs. Paul [Thama] Pearson of Hobbs, NM, and Mrs. Calvin [Betty] Ford of Grand Prarie; four sons, J. W., E. W. Jr., Cleon, and Bill, all of Hereford; and five grandchildren.

Burial will be in West Park Cemetery here under the director of Gilliland Funeral Home.
