Morris "Moe" Burnett

Waterville, WA

Morris "Moe" Burnett, of Waterville, WA, passed away peacefully on November 21, 2012. He was born at East Wenatchee, WA on July 7, 1926, to Hollis and Bertha (Overturf) Burnett. He graduated from Wenatchee High School in 1944. He met his future wife, Peggy Ingalls, at a Saturday dance on Badger Mountain while she was visiting her uncle with her sister, who was married to Moe's cousin. It was love at first sight for both of them. A year later, they married on October 23, 1946, in Colville, WA and were married for 64 years, until her death in 2010. They made their first home in Douglas, WA. In his early years, he was a rodeo rider and cowboy, working as a ranch hand and/or ranch foreman. Later, he went to work for the U.S. Forest Service. He spent many years doing campground maintenance, firefighting and managing firefighting crews, both in Prineville, OR and Kettle Falls, WA. He loved to hunt and fish as long as he was able. His main hobbies were gardening and making things in his shop.

He is survived by daughters, Louana (Mike) Green of East Wenatchee, Colleen Friend of Post Falls, ID, Virginia (Scott) Dickinson of Prineville, OR and Diane (Rick) McUne of Cashmere; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy; his parents; a sister, and three brothers.
