Viola Harrison Adams, age 89, died on January 4, 1990, after a brief illness. She was born December 19, 1900 in Richmond, Utah to William Jesse and Chloe Eugene Rainey Harrison, the second of 11 children. Her family moved to Logan, Utah in 1903. She graduated from Brigham Young High. In 1923, she married George Thomas Adams, an outstanding athlete at the Utah State Agricultural College. They moved to Provo in 1925. The marriage was solemnized on November 18, 1953 in the Salt Lake Temple. In a 40-year career, she became manager of Stevens Dress Shop and later Lerner's Store. She served 29 years with the Utah Valley Hospital Pink Ladies. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, and the Women's Council of Provo. In March 1984, she was selected as Clubwoman of the Year of Provo. Member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and was active in the church auxiliaries as an officer, teacher, visiting teacher and temple worker.
Survivors: One son, two daughters, and spouses, George Thomas and Wilma Jones Adams, Orem; William Lester and Carma Adams Mangum, Salt Lake City; Robert Franklin and Carol Adams Mensel, Kensington, Maryland; 11 grandsons, two granddaughters; 32 great-grandchildren; one brother, Max Rainey Harrison, Clearfield; two sisters, Zenda Harrison Dalrymple Alder, Seattle, Washington; Mrs. Eugene (Jean Harrison) Banner, Modesto, Calif.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Provo 1st Ward Chapel, 200 South 100 East. Friends may call at the Berg Mortuary of Provo, 185 East Center on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and at the Church one hour prior to services. Interment: Provo City Cemetery.
