Goldthwaite Eagle, January 26, 1956 Microfilm Reel #688 B LAST RITES FOR JAMES HENRY VAUGHAN, PIONEER RESIDENT, ARE HELD WEDNESDAY Funeral Services for James Henry Vaughan, 85, were held at the Wilkins Chapel Wednesday afternoon, January 18, 1t 8:00 oclock. Services were conducted by Rev. Howard Johnson, pastor of First Methodist Church of Mullin.

Mr. Vaughan, son of the late John Wesley Vaughan and Beadie Burgess Vaughan, was born in Alabama December 9, 1870 and passed away at his home in the Trigger Mountain community Monday Night, January 16, 1956, after an illness of seven years. He moved to Mills County from Hamilton fifty years ago and settled on the place where he made his home the remainder of his life. He was a member of the Methodist Church. He taught a school a number of years and was active in community enterprises and a church worker as long as his health would permit. On October 31, 1897 he was united in marriage with Miss Mary Ella Stanley of Hamilton. To this union ten children wer born, nine of whom survive. Survivors are the widow; five daughters, Era Vaughan, Austin; Mrs. G.E. Weems and Mrs. C.J. Weems, both of Rotan; Jewel Vaughan, Fort Worth; Ruth Vaughan, San Antonio; four sons, L.H> Vaughan, Pine Bluff, Arkansas; W.C. Vaughan, Bryan; H.T. Vaughan, Goldthwaite; Milton Vaughan, Gallup, New Mexico; and Y.W. Vaughan, deceased. Eight grandchildren, two step-grandchilren, and one great-grandson; three sister, Mrs. Eliza Pounds, Heflin, Alabama; Mrs. Minnie Evans, Hugo, Oklahoma; and Mrs. Ella Evansk Birmingham, Alabama; three brothers, U.S. Vaughan, Heflin, Alabama; George R. Vaughan, Bowden, Georgia; and Lee Vaughan, Birmingham, Alabama. Pallbearers were Orvilee Evans, J.C. Bramblett, Walker Berry, Buddy Womack, Robert Reynolds and Fred Reynolds. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Roy Wilkins Funeral Home with interment in the North Brown Cemetery. Also, in the same issue and same page was this notice: Miss Barbara Ann Vaughan of San Antonio, Miss Scottie Vaughan and her brother H.T., Jr., of Odessa attended the funeral services for their grandfather, J.H. Vaughan, on Wednesday of last week.
