TULIA — Doris Jackson Fleming, 91, died Friday, Nov. 29, 2013, in Amarillo.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in First Baptist Church of Tulia with the Rev. Charles Davenport and the Rev. Jason Stone, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are by Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia.
Doris was born Jan. 17, 1922, in Gatesville to Sam Patrick and Pearl Odell Jackson. She grew up in Gatesville.
She married Alvin D. Fleming on Aug. 31, 1945, in Gatesville. They moved in the late 1940s to Vigo Park and farmed, and later moved to Tulia. She was a housewife and a member of First Baptist Church in Tulia.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four brothers, Ernest Jackson, Carl Jackson, Hy Jackson and James Jackson; and two sisters, Gladys Britian and Bobbie Pittari.
Survivors include two daughters, Deborah Vestal and husband Burt of Amarillo and Wanda Albert of Amarillo; a sister, Opal McCarley of Happy; two sisters-in-law, Florence Dorsey of Gatesville and Waldene Jackson of Tulia; a grandson, Adam Tuey and wife Cassi of Amarillo; and four great-granddaughters.
The family suggests memorials be to First Baptist Church of Tulia, Wayland Baptist University or a favorite charity.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
