Elizabeth Anne Beckham Harris, 71, passed away Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013. Memorial service: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, at First United Methodist Church Hurst, 521 W. Pipeline Road, Hurst, (www.fumchurst.org). Interment will be in the church's columbarium. Elizabeth was born in Fort Worth, Texas, on Nov. 30, 1941, to Jefferson Raney Beckham and Edna Merle Thomas. She attended Handley Elementary and graduated from Eastern Hills in the first graduating class. She attended Arlington State College. She worked for a time at Texas Electric Service Co. where she met her future husband. She raised two fine boys who well remember the stories and jokes she told as well as advice she gave. Service to others was important to her. She volunteered at the church's Mission Central outreach program for 14 years. She was so active in PTA that students thought she was a teacher. She excelled as a ballroom dancer and has a trophy to prove it. Many are those who benefited from her artistic ability in ceramics, knitting, bread making and cake decorating. Elizabeth was a charter member of the First United Methodist Church starting from the days when it was known as Isom Chapel. Her devotion to the Questers Sunday School Class was recognized by all. Friends and neighbors remember her for her spirit, kindnesses, sweet smile and flooded her with cards, support and well wishes during her struggle with cancer. Elizabeth requested that, in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts be given to either Mission Central, 732 E. Pipeline Road, Hurst, Texas 76053, 817-595-0011, or Methodist Boys Ranch (www.methodist childrenshome.org). Survivors: Left with many wonderful memories are her husband, John W. Harris Jr.; sons, John W. Harris III (Skipper) and Glenn Edward Harris; grandchildren, David Harris, Ryan Harris, Ashley Harris, Brandon Harris, Annabelle Harris and Ian Harris; daughters-in-law, Dana Ford Harris and Shelli Freudenrich Harris; sister, Lanelle Jackson; and brother, Jerry Beckham.
