A memorial service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Seminole Junior High auditorium with the Rev. Ed Wegele officiating. Services will be conducted by Ratliff Funeral Home of Seminole.
Mr. Golmon was born May 30, 1926, in Brookhaven, (Mississippi) to John C. and Lela Golmon. He married Betty Reed, Sept. 15, 1950, in Carlsbad, N.M. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder for many years and served on most of the committees during his years in Seminole. He was a teacher, assistant principal and a principal in the Seminole Independent School District for 38 years, Seminole Credit Union treasurer from 1964-1997, was a team member of the most recent school bond issue, served as a member of the Seminole Hospital Board for 17 years, a member of the Seminole Masonic Lodge No. 957, Seminole Rotary Club, he was named Educator of the Year for Seminole Independent School District in 1981-82, and was selected Keenager of the Year just two weeks ago by the Seminole Area Chamber of Commerce. He served in the United States Navy during World War II for two and one-half years.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Golmon, of Seminole; one brother, Hollis Golmon, of Monticello; two sisters, Ara Golmon, of Brookhaven, and Aileen Hoggatt, of Bridge City, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
