Richard Mosley Cummins passed away on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa, Texas.
He was born in Odessa Texas on October 3, 1947 to V.H. and Margaret (Laws) Cummins. He attended School in Odessa and graduated from Odessa High School in 1966. He received his Bachelors and Masters degrees from UTPB.
He married Cheryl Lance on April 5, 1969 in Odessa Texas. They had two boys, Richard Lance Cummins, and Dr. Christopher Dale Cummins.
He worked at a variety of jobs in his lifetime but found his passion in history. He was the Executive Director of the Parker House Ranching Museum in Odessa and loved learning all he could about the history of both the Parkers and Ector County in general. He also loved teaching history at Odessa College.
He loved researching his genealogy and has done an enormous amount of research on his family.
He helped to start the Odessa Youth Baseball Association and continued to volunteer his time until his death. He loved all aspects of Baseball and one of his fondest trips was to see the New York Yankees play in the old Yankee Stadium, and the Baseball Hall of Fame.
Richard is survived by his wife of almost 45 years, Cheryl, and sons, Richard Lance Cummins and wife Chey, and their children Richlyn and Noah, of Odessa and Dr. Christopher Dale Cummins of Lubbock. He was an amazing husband, father and Grand Dad! Sister Laura Morrison of Spring Texas, niece and nephews and cousins and numerous long time friends.
Preceding him in death and welcoming him to heaven are his parents, V.H. and Margaret Cummins, grandparents, Ben and Ethel Cummins, and Mosley and Mamie Laws.
