Ruth Ann George, 62, of rural Parsons died at 1:25 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 1, 2005, at her home. She had been in failing health. She was born Nov. 21, 1942, in Iola to Carl and Neva (Stephens) Saferite. She grew up and attended schools in Neosho Falls, graduating from Neosho Falls High School in 1960. She married Lyle E. George on Aug. 29, 1960, in Neosho Falls. Following their marriage they lived in Neosho Falls and Fort Scott before moving to Garnett, where they lived for 10 years. In 1974, they moved to Parsons. He survives of the home. While in Neosho Falls, she worked at IMP boat factory in Iola and was later employed at a sewing factory in Garnett. After moving to Parsons, she worked at the Early Learning Center for Class Ltd. for several years and then drove a school bus for USD 503. She was a member of United Methodist Church in Neosho Falls. She enjoyed reading and watching wildlife, deer and humming birds. She also enjoyed being with her family. Survivors include her husband, Lyle E. George of the home; three daughters, Cathy Forbes and her husband, David, of Parsons, Lori Hevel and her husband, Joe, of DeSoto and Michele Mount and her husband, Tommy, of Rose Hill; five grandchildren, Jacob Forbes, Jordan and Brett Hevel and Danielle and Tayler Mount; a brother, Kenny Saferite of Wichita; and a sister, Opal Henderson of Neosho Falls. She was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. The service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark Young officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice may be left at or mailed to the funeral home, 405 Main, Parsons.
