8 May 1947: John C. Baney, widely known some years ago as an organist and in connection with local iron industries, died suddenly at his residence 500 East Walnut Street on Wednesday afternoon. His death was ascribed to a heart attack. He was 70 years of age and was a resident of the city for upwards of a half century. He was first, employed at the old time Pennsylvania Bolt and Nut Works and continued there for some time after it was absorbed by the American Iron and Steel Manufacturing Company. Later he was employed as a bookkeeper at the Lebanon Valley Iron and Steel Company plant and continued there after it was merged with the Wrought Iron Company. He was the organist at St. James Lutheran Church for some years and was popular in musical circles. He was twice married and leaves two children by Pearl Rupp Baney, his first wife. They are John R. Baney, of this city, and Mrs. Christine B. Rohrer, of Washington D. C. There are three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Mr. Baney was the last member of his family. [Lebanon Daily News]
