Mrs. Edith L. Williams, 94, Valley View Apartments, widow of C. Elida Williams, died Friday afternoon in the house of the Good Samaritan, where she had been a patient one day. The funeral was Tuesday, Jan. 21, at the Donald E. Virkler Funeral Home, Lowville, with Rev. Bradford Hunt, pastor of the United Methodist Church of Lowville, officiating. Spring burial will be in the Martinsburg Cemetery. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Madeline Britton, Frankfort; Mrs. Ira(Thelma) Dennis, Lowville; and Mrs. John (Ardenell) Ostrowski, Copenhagen; 19 grandchildren, 68 great-grandchildren, and 33 great-great-grandchildren. She was predeased by three sons, Lester, Tell, and Harold Williams; also predeased by Winifred, Beatrice and Lyda Williams; also five brothers, Olvey, Harvey, Spencer, Elijah and Ernest Knight; and two sisters, Florence Failing and Ada Osborn. Mrs. Williams was born the Town of Lowville, March 12, 1891, the daughter of Collins and Luthea Turner Knight. She attended district schools, and lived on Flat Rock Road, later moving to Rector Road. She married C. Elida Williams, Dec. 8, 1908, at Trinity Episcopal Parish House, Lowville, with Rev. Metcalf officiating. The couple owned and operated a farm on Route 177. After Mr. Williams death on June 7, 1948, Mrs. Williams moved to Copenhagen. She lived in Copenhagen and Sacketts Harbor until she moved to Valley View Apartments, Lowville, in 1979. She was a member of the Lowville United Methodist Church, and honorary member of the West Lowville Neighbor's club, 25-year member of the Harrisburg Grange where she held office for four years as lecture. She was a member of the Lowville Senior Citizens Club.
