Marty served in the U.S. Air Force during WWII, and in his later years became a Deacon in the Catholic Church. He first served as Deacon at St. Pablo's Church in Marathon, Fla. until he moved his family to Maine. He then served as Deacon at St. Patrick's Church of Newcastle for many years until he retired in 2011. He spent much of his life, and his retirement years, doing what he loved best - painting.
He was predeceased by his wife, Mary (Keaney).
